About me

Welcome to Quill & Pin! My name is Shannon, and I'm a living historian, seamstress, artist, writer, fiber arts fanatic, cat lady and your friendly neighborhood spinster.

I began sewing historical costumes in March 2022, and attended my first living history event at the Fort Yargo Market Faire. Since then, I dove into the world of historical sewing headfirst and have created a variety of projects!

In addition to sewing, I knit, crochet, embroider, write, and paint, so those things may show up here as well from time to time. You'll probably also see my furry little helpers, my two cats, Biskit and Ivy.

Why Quill & Pin? I wanted to choose a name that combined several of my interests, for one. But I also liked that it combines something that has been considered "women's work"—sewing and textile arts— with something that women have historically been somewhat discouraged from participating in—writing and literature.

(Plus there's a fun quill pen/pin pun, and I do love puns.)

I'll be sharing more about my sewing and crafting projects, history, and literature soon, so stay tuned!
